According to Colombian Law, applicants must meet the following requirements Physical, mental, social and moral requirements that are certified by Government Central Authority (Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar) or its equivalent, or an international adoption agency accredited by ICBF in Colombia. Police background check Birth certificates of the applicants Marriage certificates of the  married couple Work or employment certificates Annual earnings Acceptance statement of post-placement reports

ICBF has established Adoption regulations (see www.bienestarfamiliar.gov.co).   For the adoption of an infant less than 2.11 years of age, at least ONE of the applicants (husband and wife) must be less than 38 years old (for Colombian couples the age limit is 40 years old).
